Mr. Nick Powers, Private Vocal Instructor, Wylie East HS

Nick has been a choral director for 12 years at the middle school and high school levels.  Most recently, he was the director at Lake Brantley High School in Altamonte Springs, FL. There, his choirs consistently received Superior and Superior with Distinction ratings at festivals. The Lake Brantley program was selected to be an Honor Choir at the Walt Disney World Candlelight Processional.  His a cappella group, ForteFy, placed first in the International Competition for High School A Cappella quarterfinal in 2021.  At Lake Brantley, Nick mentored six music education student teachers.  

 

Nick is an active adjudicator for Solo and Ensemble adjudication events, choral festivals, and contemporary a cappella competitions. He has conducted both middle school and high school all-county honor choirs in Florida. Nick has been a soloist and section leader at the Naples United Church of Christ for the past twelve years. He has coordinated several honor choirs, including the 6-9 Tenor Bass Florida ACDA Honor Choir. He sang with the Festival Singers of Florida for 10 years and served as the bass section leader and secretary for the executive board. Nick has presented at the Florida Music Education Association Conference in Tampa, Florida. He is currently the Honor Choir Manager for the National A Cappella Convention and the Front of House Manager for Acatex.
